Dongar Dashcam Power Adapter for Ford Vehicles

Dongar's journey began when a semi-truck recklessly collided into and totaled our founder Kevin's car. Years later, finally able to purchase a new car – and eager to protect it – Kevin immediately purchased a dash cam. However, inside the dash cam box was a disappointing sight: a mess of cables permanently affixed to a 'cigarette lighter' style adapter. Unwilling to have wires all over his car or deal with a cumbersome installation process, Kevin took matters into his own hands – he created a small and easy-to-install adapter to power his dash cam, and Dongar was born.

Unlike adapters that involve hiding and wrapping wires around your car (or worse – leaving them dangling across your windshield), Dongar adapters plug directly into your rearview mirror, ensuring a hassle-free setup and distraction-free driving for you.

Installation is simple! With your vehicle turned off, simply unplug the power source from your rearview mirror and replace it with the Dongar Dash Cam Power Adapter. To do this you can depress the plastic push tabs on the connector and unplug it from the mirror. Once your adapter is connected to your mirror, plug both your Dash Cam and original power source into the adapter. Our dual power design provides power to both your dash cam and your mirror.

Before ordering, confirm your vehicle's compatibility by using our compatibility chart. This Dongar dash cam adapter is compatible with USB-powered dash cams including: Garmin Mini 2, Garmin Live, Garmin 47, Garmin 57, Garmin 67W, Vantrue N2 Pro, Vantrue N4, Vantrue N5, Fitcam, Viofo, 70Mai, and all other USB-powered dash cams. It is also compatible with other USB-powered devices including radar detectors and GPS.

This dash cam adapter is recommended for USB-powered devices drawing less than 2A at 5V to ensure efficient heat management. If you're using a USB-C powered device, please ensure compatibility by checking the voltage specifications beforehand. Please note that this adapter is not compatible with devices requiring 12V or those powered by a barrel jack or RJ11 connector.

Examples of compatible vehicles for this rearview mirror dash cam adapter include: select Ford models, including the Bronco (non-sport, 2021+), Explorer (various trims, 2011-2019), F150 (various trims, 2011-2023), Ford Fusion (various trims, 2013-2017), Ford Mustang (various trims, 2013-2021), and more. This adapter may also be compatible with additional vehicles with 16-pin rearview mirror connectors. If your vehicle model isn't listed, please verify compatibility by contacting Dongar support.

This Dongar dash cam adapter requires an auto-dimming or powered rearview mirror (such as a mirror with garage buttons) to function. It powers your dash cam or other USB-powered device when your vehicle's ignition is ON – it is not intended for parking mode or other constant power applications. By turning on only when your vehicle is on, it eliminates any danger of draining your car's battery.

The Dongar Technologies kit includes one (1) dash cam power adapter, along with three (3) shorty USB cables (USB-C, Mini USB, Micro USB) for use with USB-powered devices.
